White Lights, by More Than Ready’s son Benicio broke her maiden at only her second career start at Cessnock yesterday for trainer Kris Lees.

A $40,000 weanling, White Lights proved too strong for her dozen rivals in the 1150m sprint despite her wide alley.
The Novacastrian was purchased by Neil Jenkinson from Vinery’s 2008 National Sale draft at the Gold Coast as is already repaying her owners faith.

White Lights is a daughter of the Christmas Tree mare, Faerie Lights, and from the immediate family of Winter’s Dance – dam of Dancing Dynamite and Nimble Feat.

“Benicio’s first crop have just turned three a matter of a few weeks ago and already he’s posted some very impressive winners,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.

One of Benicio’s most promising 3YO’s, Private Label, is scheduled to contest tomorrow’s small but select AJC Moore Park Handicap (1550m) at Kensington.
“He couldn’t have been more impressive winning last start finishing all over the top of them at Warwick Farm.   By Benicio, you would imagine he’ll be suited by the extra distance – he’s a very smart horse.”
