Yearlings by Vinery sires Congrats and More Than Ready sold up to $300,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale on Monday night.

Congrats registered his $300,000 result with the penultimate sale (Lot 75) of the evening session.  This cracking filly from K D’s Shady Lady was bought by agent Todd Quast was the buyer on behalf of Goldmark Farm.  The filly received a last-minute update when her older half-sister Lady Of Fifty (pictured) won the G1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar on Saturday.

The second Congrats on offer also sold, a filly from Cattoo (Storm Cat), fetched $110,000 when purchased by WinStar Farm.

These two yearlings are part of the first crop of the Kentucky bred Congrats.  Having stood for four seasons in Florida, Congrats moved to Vinery Kentucky where he stood for $35,000 and covered his biggest book to date.

 

More Than Ready reached the $300,000 price-tag with the Haka Girl filly catalogued as Lot 56.  It was purchased by Stephen Carr. Her dam is a War Chant winning mare who was also stakes placed at Hollywood Park.

The auctioneer reminded prospective buyers that More Than Ready colt Verrazano will be one of the star attractions for the G1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga on August 24.

Like Congrats, More Than Ready had two yearlings go under the hammer during the first of two sessions on Monday.  A More Than Ready colt from Carriage Trade (Storm Cat) made $250,000 to the bid of agent Becky Thomas.

The Saratoga Sale will conclude on Tuesday evening with More Than Ready and Congrats represented by another two yearlings each.

Vinery will stand More Than Ready for $99,000 (inc gst) and Congrats for $22,000 (inc gst) this year.
