RED RANSOM’S Typhoon Tracy may be the Horse of the Year but Corey Brown has paid an enormous compliment to Australia’s number one mare in waiting, More Joyous, after the More Than Ready star produced another superlative win at Rosehill this afternoon.

Brown, a veteran of major race wins including last year’s Melbourne Cup aboard Shocking, declared More Joyous as ‘the best horse he has ever ridden after he devastating victory in today’s Group Two STC Sebring Stakes (1400m).
“She is by far the best horse I’ve ever ridden,” Brown said.

“I’ve never ridden a horse like that.

“There would be a few get close but she was going better after the line than before.

“Any jockey who takes credit for a horse like that is fooling themselves.

“She is explosive and would be even better if she had something to chase.”

More Joyous was sent out favourite for the ninth time of her career and gave her backers no cause for alarm bouncing straight to the lead and dictating.
The Gai Waterhouse trained mare exploded away from the likes of Rothesay and Drumbeats to set up a winning break passing the 200m surging on to an emphatic 3.3-lens win.

Owner/breed John Singleton was on hand to see the daughter of More Than Ready notch her eighth career win from 11 starts.

”Gai said she would take control of the race and nothing would touch her,” he said.
”I wanted to enjoy it but it wasn’t until the end that I could see there was nothing coming.

”Gai said last week she was better than Sunline. I don’t know about that, I’m still shaking.”

More Joyous is now likely to target the Group One AJC Epsom Handicap at Randwick on October 2.

She has already been installed as the dominant $3.80 favourite ahead of Mossman gelding Neeson together with and Doncaster winner Danleigh on the next line of betting at $9.
