DUBLEO gelding Happy Valley is almost certain to come to town soon into his new campaign after posting an easy first-up win at Newcastle last Saturday.

The Warwick Farm trained gelding was sent out at as the $1.60 favourite in the wake of an emphatic barrier trial win over stakeswinner McClintock in a 795m heat at home last month.

It proved the perfect lead in for the Matthew Smith trained 5YO who cruised passed the early leader in the straight to set up a soft 2-lens win in the 900m C1.

Saturday’s victory was the second win for Happy Valley who ran out a 4-lens winner on debut at Goulburn last September.

Happy Valley is the first foal to race of an Almutawkel mare who has since foaled a filly by More Than Ready’s VRC Derby winner Benicio .
