TESTA Rossa raised the bat on a half century of stakeswinners at the weekend when the Gerry Harvey bred Good Master won the Lisbao Juvenile Stakes in Macau.

The Australian-bred colt was sold for $120,000 at the 2012 Magic Millions Yearling and has quickly established himself as one of the most promising 3YO’s on the Island.

The colt is out of Jade Robbery mare Funicular whose previous best performed foal was the stakes-placed Merryanna.

Funicular has been a frequent visitor to Vinery based sires and foaled a Big Brown colt in 2012 (yearling) and a Congrats colt in the spring of 2013 and was subsequently served again by Testa Rossa.

Testa Rossa’s 50 stakeswinners are a diverse bunch and range across distances of 1000m all the way up to a Group 1 2500m.

His multiple Group 1 winning offspring include the globetrotting mare Ortensia who won major races in Dubai, the UK and of course here at home in Australia.

Testa Rossa, a six-times Group 1 winner himself, has a record of 50 stakeswinners, 47 stakes-placed, 538 winners (at an amazingly consistent 71.9% w/r).

A fixture within the top ten sires dating back several seasons, Testa Rossa’s 2013/14 is shaping as one of his best yet with the real possibility of siring his first Golden Slipper winner via the reigning Magic Millions hero Unencumbered.
