WYONG – EXCITING colt Brighexpectations booked a berth in next month’s $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast after winning yesterday’s Wyong prelude.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt was having only his second race start after finishing fourth in the VRC Maribyrnong Plate – G3 in Melbourne.
Brightexpectations was sent out at $1.80 and proved to strong at the end edging clear of Star Lass with triple Crown 1.5 lengths away in third.
”Ever since the first time he came into the stable, he has been a real professional and showed that he has plenty to offer.
”He is a pretty tough little customer and the step up to 1200m will suit him down to the ground. I think he will be even better over 1400m to a mile down the track,” winning jockey Nash Rawiller said.
”Gai has him ticking over nicely for the big Magic Millions race on the Gold Coast and I am sure she will have kept something in the locker, a little bit more improvement.”
Should Brightexpectations win on January 9, he will become the third consecutive Magic Millions winner for More Than Ready following on from Augusta Proud and Phelan Ready.
