WELL-BRED Big Brown filly Muscovado showed that she will be a force when first produced on raceday by trainer Gai Waterhouse after an impressive trial heat at the Randwick heats this morning.
The 2YO filly drew the middle barrier of the 8-horse field but jumped fastest and quickly led in the 728m heat.
Musovado was travelling like a winner from the moment the gates crashed back and held her advantage in the run to the line to beat stablemate Twirlwith Magic Millions 2YO Classic contender Sheer Style back in third.
Muscovado is a daughter of Waterhouse’s stakeswinning Zeditave mare, On Type, but has most assuredly thrown to her Kentucky Derby/Preakness Stakes winning sire.
The strongly-fashioned bay was knocked down to Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds for $120,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Buyers attending next week’s sale on the Gold Coast will have plenty of opportunity to secure their own slice of Big Brown success with some 20-lots on offer.
