A TWO-YEAR-OLD by Vinery’s freshman sire Excites sold for $110,000 at yesterday’s Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale on the Gold Coast.

The striking black/brown colt galloped impressively at the Breeze-Ups speeding across the 200m section in a slick 10.35 seconds.

His dam, I’m A Showoff, is a Thunder Gulch grand-daughter of stakeswinner and arch broodmare Stage Hit whose progeny include Encores, Sir Laurence and Irradiate.

“Excites was a Group One winner of the middle leg of Australia’s 2YO Triple Crown so there is a strong element of precocity in his own make-up,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.

“The reports we are hearing from various trainers and owners is that there are many that will be racing around the pre-Christmas, early New Year period,” Phelan said.

“Excites won a Gr.1 at only his third start and trained on to finish second in the Caulfield Guineas as a 3yo, his progeny look every bit as athletic and precocious.”

The Horses in Training colt is the second son of Excites to sell for six figures following Yenrise P/L’s $100,000 winning bid on the Raise A Dane’s yearling at the Melbourne Premier in March.
