The Recording Stakes is for three-year-old fillies over 1 1/16 miles on the Inner Turf course at Belmont and Hungry Island’s commanding win took her record to 3 wins & 4 placings from 7 starts for US$126,980 earnings.  It was More Than Ready’s 88th individual Stakes winner following the Gr.1 success of Buster’s Ready in the U.S and 2yo Mahisara’s Listed win at the Brisbane Carnival last week.

Ridden by Alex Solis for trainer Claude McGaughey, Hungry Island defeated the Swettenham Stud bred My Redbyrd  & Parting Words.  Restrained by Solis, Hungry Island settled last and was still there approaching the final turn when taken five-wide before straightening and rocketing past her seven rivals in the stretch to win eased up by three lengths with another length to third.

Hungry Island, a daughter of More Than Ready, won for the third consecutive time for owner Emory Hamilton and trainer Shug McGaughey. She covered 1 1/16 miles in a slick 1:43.59
