BIG Brown sired his first winner in 2013 when Ground Transport came away with a dominant 1 1/2-lens win at Louisiana’s Fair Grounds racetrack last Saturday.

Sent out as the $2.00 favourite off the back of her December debut second placing, Ground Transport was ideally positioned on the back of the two leaders.

Jockey Mark Guidry was content to sit three wide in third and peeled off their backs at the top of the straight quickly taking over before one final surge at the furlong pole sent the issue beyond doubt.

Ground Transport’s emphatic win ushers in what is set to be an exhilarating 12 months for Big Brown fans given that his oldest progeny have just turned three; the same age as he was when he won his five Grade 1’s including the Kentucky Derby/Preakness Stakes double.
