Vinery Stud graduate Farnan has firmed from $34 into $5 for the $2 million Magic Millions 2yo Classic RL at the Gold Coast on January 11.

The unbeaten colt heads TAB markets following a one-length victory over Gimcrack Stakes Gr.3 winner Every Rose in the $200,000 Magic Millions Wyong 2yo Classic RL on Thursday.  He had bolted in by five lengths on debut in Canberra last month.

“He broke brilliantly, settled nicely and then showed a good turn of foot in the straight,” Tulloch Lodge co-trainer Adrian Bott said.  “We’ve kept him nice and fresh between runs and he’s got a no-nonsense attitude that will take him a long way.”

Farnan (Not a Single Doubt) sold for $550,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and he can give Vinery a running double in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic following the superb win by fellow Vinery graduate Exhilarates earlier this year.  Godolphin bought Exhilarates (Snitzel) from Vinery for $600,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions.

“He was very impressive and very professional,” jockey Tim Clark said.  “He felt Every Rose coming and responded with a great kick.”

Farnan is also the second 2yo black-type winner out of Vinery’s consignment to the 2019 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.  Hard Landing (All Too Hard) was first to emerge in the Maribyrnong Plate Gr.3 at Flemington in November.

Farnan is a three-quarter brother to Sydney stakes winner Sandbar (Lonhro Plate LR & Rosebud Hcp LR).  Their dam Tallow (Street Cry) won a Vanity Stakes Gr.3 at Flemington. Farnan was purchased by Aquis Farm and general manager Shane McGrath was suitably impressed after holding off some spirited opposition to buy Farnan on the Gold Coast.  “He looks very sharp and is a lovely mover with any amount of potential,” McGrath correctly predicted in January.  “He’s out of a talented mare and comes from a lovely family.”

Vinery returns to the Magic Millions next month with another quality draft headed by first-season sire Star Turn.  There’s a half-dozen entered by the Group 1 sprinter among 23 lots from his home-base.

Competition for its Snitzel colt (Lot 305) and Not A Single Doubt filly (Lot 254) will also be strong following the success of Exhilarates and Farnan.
