VICTORIA’S annual Horse of the Year awards always promised to be a `Family Affair’ with standout candidates Black Caviar and her sibling All Too Hard standing head and shoulders above the rest for the title.

And while Black Caviar is used to be the proverbial `good thing’ in anything she contests, this year’s `race’ was a tight-run affair given All Too Hard’s recommendations.

The Team Hawkes trained galloper won three Victorian Group 1 during the 2012/13 season to Black Caviar’s two.

On top of that, All Too Hard was also runner-up in Australasia’s weight-for-age championship, the W.S. Cox Plate (2040m) as a three-year-old.

All Too Hard will have his chance to challenge Black Caviar again for Australia Horse of the Year honours with an announcement scheduled for October 3.
