EXCITES

Excites is a group one winning two-year-old by one of Danehill’s finest sons, out of a million dollar earning mare, who has produced three grade one horses.

Excites is half-brother to group one winner Duporth, a son of Red Ransom (by Roberto), and his sire, Danewin has group one winner County Tyrone out of a mare by Touching Wood, who is also Roberto. Other sources of Roberto would include Sri Pekan and Intikhab (both by Red Ransom), At Talaq, Brocco, Prized and Casual Lies.

Danewin demonstrated a strong affinity for Blushing Groom line mares (who should also suit the distaff side of Excites’ pedigree, getting group one winner Vitesse Dane out of a mare by Bao Lack, group winner Currigee out of a mare by Nassipour, and a stakes winner out of a mare by Quest For Fame. Rainbow Quest, the sire of Quest For Fame, could also be brought in through Spectrum and mares by Fantastic Light and Noverre also appeal

From the Star Kingdom line, Danewin has two black-type winners out of mares by Marscay, and might also work with mares descended from Star Kingdom via Biscay through Bletchingly (who is here through Best Western, but could be brought in again through Canny Lad), Star Watch, Kingdom Bay and Hurricane Sky; through Kaoru Star (through Luskin Star and his son Covetous); through Nodouble (through Semipalatinsk); and through Zephyr Bay and Planet Kingdom.

Danehill line stallions, including Danewin, have done very well over Sir Ivor line mares. The most notable source of this line is Sir Tristram, who can be brought in through Zabeel and his son, Octagonal (his son Lonhro) and Kaapstad (who both giving inbreeding to the great mare Eight Carat), Sovereign Red, Military Plume, Marauding, Grosvernor and Dr. Grace. Danewin also has a grade two winner out of a mare by Ivor Prince, another son of Sir Ivor, which encourages trying other sources of that sire, including Geilgud, Imperial Prince, and Ivory Hunter.

Danewin has stakes winners out of mares by Varick, and Papal Power (by Miswaki), from the Mr. Prospector line.  In Australia, Mr. Prospector could be introduced through such as Bellotto, Woodman, Umatilla, Zafonic (by Gone West), Street Cry, Thunder Gulch, and Lujain and Secret Savings (by Seeking the Gold).

Danewin also has stakes winners out of mares by Lunchtime (who is available through Snippets and Pins), Zeditave, and out of the Nasrullah line horses Rancher; Kenmare (sire of Keltrice, Kenvain, and Metal Storm) and Water Mill and Marooned (both by Mill Reef).

It may also be worth introducing the Storm Bird strain here. Storm Cat looks appealing, particularly through Tale of the Cat, Hennessy and Catrail. Storm Bird could also work through Bluebird (sire of Dolphin Street). Although not found often, introducing Air Express, who is from the family of Excites’ broodmare sire, Success Express.
