DUBLEO

A multiple graded stakes winning two-year-old Dubleo has the pedigree for stallion success. He is by multiple Champion Sire Southern Halo, also sire of More Than Ready. His dam, by phenomenal ‘broodmare sire of sires’ Secretariat, is half-sister to Champion Sprinter Rubiano, and to the dam of Tapit, Champion Freshman Sire of 2008, and Champion Second Season Sire of 2009 in the U.S.

Dubleo should be very good with mares that are by a stallion bred on a Northern Dancer/Secretariat or Northern Dancer/Sir Gaylord cross. One outstanding source of this would be Storm Bird through Storm Cat (sources include Giant’s Causeway, Tale of the Cat, Hennessy, Catrail, High Yield, and Van Nistelrooy), and Bluebird (sire of Dolphin Street). Other Northern Dancer/Secretariat crosses include Chief’s Crown (and his son Grand Lodge) and Dehere, and Northern Dancer/Sir Gaylord sources include Green Desert (sire of Cape Cross, Invincible Spirit, and Volksraad), Barathea, and King of Kings.

Other Northern Dancer strains that would appeal for Dubleo are Danehill and sons, especially mares by Redoute’s Choice and Flying Spur (both carry Sir Gaylord) and other Danzig sources such in particular Anabaa and Belong to Me; The Minstrel (sire of Palace Music, Masterclass and Bakharoff; grandsire of Naturalism), Sadler’s Wells, Last Tycoon, and El Gran Senor. We also like stallions bred on the broad Nijinsky/Blushing Groom nick for Dubleo. Sources of this in Australia would include Quest for Fame and Fantastic Light.

Dubleo should also work well with a number of branches of the Mr. Prospector line. Particularly good should be Mr. Prospector/Buckpasser crosses, such as Woodman (sire of Timber Country and Hector Protector), Miswaki (sire of Umatilla) and Seeking the Gold (sire of Secret Savings and Lujain), Conquistador Cielo (his sons, Conquistarose and El Moxie), Distorted Humor, Fappiano (including Unbridled’s Song and Defensive Play) and Thunder Gulch (who looks particularly attractive here).

Dubleo’s pedigree also makes him very appealing with mares by Sir Tristram line stallions. More Than Ready has a stakes winner out of a mare by Kaapstad, and mares by Zabeel and his sons (especially Octagonal, his son Lonhro and Don Eduardo) are also particularly appealing. Other sources of Sir Ivor should do well and include Geilgud, Imperial Prince, and Ivory Hunter.

Dubleo’s third dam is a sister to the excellent sire, Relaunch, and he can be introduced through his son, Honour and Glory.
