FANS of Vinery resident Dubleo wielded a considerable wagering arsenal for the remainder of Grafton Cup day thanks to the progeny of the prolific sire winning the opening two races on the feature card this afternoon.

Dubleo is carving out a reputation as a most consistent sire with a tidal wave of winners flowing over the Autumn and winter period.  All of this success despite only averaging a paltry 45 foals from his first 5 season’s at stud.  Thanks to Stakes horses in his first (Dubleanny) and most recent crop (Queenian), Dubleo’s star is deservedly on the rise and small foal crops are a thing of the past with Dubleo covering over 120 mares last season.

Yesterday’s double began when the Sue Grills trained Tree Fern posted her third win inside nine starts taking the Grafton Services Club Class 2 Handicap (1200m) with experienced hoop Dale Spriggs aboard.
It was the filly’s second win at the nothern rivers track having broken her maiden at the venue prior to an impressive win at Quirindi further inland.

Soon after it was the turn of Little Vicki, another Spriggs mount, to salute with the Wyong visitor recording a neck win in the Skyracing.Tv Mother’s Gift over the 1400m.

Little Vicki, a stablemate of Stradbroke Handicap hero Sincero, is from the same crop as Dubleo’s multiple stakeswinning mare Dubleanny and carries the superb Khaptivaan as her her third dam.
Little Vicki was bred by Martin Byrne’s Muralla Stud and was offered as a yearling at the 2008 Scone gathering.
