All Too Hard passed another milestone on the weekend after the city wins of Behemoth (Moonee Valley) and C’Est Davinchi (Canterbury).

The Vinery stallion has now sired the winners of 200 races from his first two crops and it’s a timely reminder with 29 yearlings from his next crop entered for the Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale.

Behemoth will be set for an autumn stakes campaign after routing his rivals in the Santa’s Workshop Hcp (1200m) on Saturday.  The equine equivalent of a man-mountain, he won pulling up by three lengths in a performance that impressed Craig Williams.

“He’s big and raw so I gave him plenty of galloping room.  He got into a nice rhythm and had the race in his keeping a long way out.  There’s a lot to like and he’s going the right way.”

Behemoth is trained by David Jolly for a syndicate managed by Sam Lyons and he had won at Morphettville before the trip to Melbourne.  “From Day 1 he’s shown immense talent but we’ve had to be patient because he’s so big,” Jolly said.  “I’ve seen him do things at home that have been quite astonishing against horses that have won in the city in Adelaide.  And he was still a maiden at that stage.”

All Too Hard sired him from VRC Schweppervescence Sprint LR winner Penny Banger (Zedrich).  She is a half-sister to WATC Aquanita Stakes LR winner Master Minx (Surtee).

“We would have been happy for him to run well and hit the line,” Lyons said.   “This was just an audition but now we know we’ve got a nice horse for the autumn.”

C’Est Davinchi was straight back in the winning groove at Canterbury on Friday night after claiming his maiden there last month.

The All Too Hard gelding has started his second campaign in style and will be placed to advantage to complete a hat-trick before Xmas.  Team Hawkes bought him for Eric Koundouris at the 2016 Inglis easter yearling sale when he was offered by Perth breeder Graham Daws through Newhaven Park.

His USA-bred dam Mystically (Forest Wildcat) is an unraced daughter of Hollywood Park Matriarch Stakes Gr.1 winner Nastique.  Daws has her Hinchinbrook colt catalogued as Lot 848 for the Gold Coast Magic Millions on Saturday evening, January 12.
