Vinery sires More Than Ready and Congrats were back in the spotlight on Day 2 of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale on Tuesday evening.

More Than Ready was represented by a second $300,000 yearling within 24 hours when his colt from Twilight Service (Horse Chestnut) was purchased by West Point Thoroughbreds. He is a half-brother to stakes winning filly Citizen Advocate (Proud Citizen).

Shortly after the colt changed hands, West Point president Terry Finley tweeted; “We buy a spectacular More than Ready colt at Saratoga tonight.”

West Point galloper Twilight Eclipse (Purim) is gearing up for a G1 assignment in the Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga on Saturday week, August 17.

More Than Ready had 3 lots sell for an aggregate of $850,000 at the Saratoga Sale.

Congrats wasn’t far behind with 4 lots totalling $750,000. Group 1 trainer Kenny McPeek bought both Congrats yearlings offered on Day 2.

The Congrats filly from Lady On Holiday (Harlan’s Holiday) was a $200,000 buy from Gainesway Farm. And the $140,000 colt out of Saramy (Personal Hope) is a half-brother to stakes winners Babaganush (Capture the Gold) and Wildcat Heiress (Wildcat Heir).

McPeek’s main mission at Saratoga is the G1 Travers Stakes on August 24 when he will saddle up G1 Blue Grass Stakes winner Java’s Pass (War Pass) and G3 Virginia Derby winner War Dancer (War Front).

The Travers Stakes is also the target of More Than Ready’s star colt Verrazano.

Vinery will stand More Than Ready for $99,000 (inc gst) and Congrats for $22,000 (inc gst) this year.
