REIGNING Champion USA First Season Sire, Congrats added another stakeswinner to the tally when the aptly named I’m Steppin’ It Up won the Grade 3 Kent Stakes at Delaware on the weekend.

The three-year-old is from Congrat’s magical first crop which, by the end of the 2010 season, totalled 25 individual winners, four Grade 1 performers, two of those – Turbulent Descent and Wickedly Perfect – Grade 1 winners and 16 stakesperformers.

I’m Steppin It up was a juvenile winner himself and finished third in the Grade 1 Belmont Champagne Stakes.

His easy two-length triumph on Saturday coincided with the 1000th win for trainer Tony Pecoraro.

”That was nice, it was really nice to win my 1000th race in the Kent Stakes, Pecoraro said. ”He is a nice and he has been good, but he has just been growing up. I am not sure where we are going next, but he is a Florida-bred so we would like to aim for the Sunshine Millions, but I am not sure where we are going to go from here.”

I’m Steppin’ It Up’s pedigree would be relatively easy to replicate here in Australia given that he was delivered from a Thunder Gulch mare.
