BIG Brown filly Berry Baby is firming as favourite to become her sire’s first Australian-bred winner in the wake of an impressive trial win at last Friday morning’s Randwick heats.

Berry Baby was bred by John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud and was knocked down to Gai Waterhouse for $120,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast.

The filly is the third foal of her dam, Miss Mooney Mooney (by Redoute’s Choice) whose career wins are highlighted by the Listed SAJC City of Marion Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide.

She was also placed in the MVRC Schweppes and MRC Schillaci Stakes, both at Group 2 level.

Miss Mooney has subsequently delivered another Big Brown filly just 3 days shy of a year to the day that Berry Baby was born.
