THE famed More Than Ready/Danehill nick added another black-type performer to it’s constantly expanding ranks when the exquisitely bred filly Brave Soul swooped home to take second in the Listed Reginald Allen Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

The filly joins more than 50 individual winners bred on the cross including Group 1 winner Benicio, Perfectly Ready, Dreamaway and the recent Golden Sipper/Oakleigh Plate placegetter Elite Falls.

Owned and bred by prominent industry figure Peter Horwitz, Brave Soul came from well off the pace to get within a half length of the winner, Urban Grove, who coincidentally is a daughter of Charge Forward who was also raced by Horwitz.

Brave Soul is from the same More Than Ready crop that comprises stakeswinners Samaready, Raceway, Ashokan, Cambiaso and a total of five stakes placed fillies and colts.

Her dam, Soul Singer, has already delivered six winners from her six named foals led by multiple Group 3 winner Solar Charged (by Red Ransom) as well as the Tasmanian Oaks winner, Causeway Queen.

Brave Soul was beaten a half-length with Patinack filly Roll The Bones 1.5-lens away in third.

Roll The Bones is a daughter of former Vinery Stud foundation sire Red Ransom and from the same crop as the outstanding Melbourne filly, Love For Ransom and Mick Price’s Blue Diamond Preview winner, Malasun.
