HIGHLY promising Excites son Bombsquad will be out to record his first city win when he contests the MVRC Aquanas Foods Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley this weekend.

The Frank Stockdale trained colt has shown considerable promise in his five starts to date winning twice by big margins including his 2.8-lens triumph at Geelong over 1200m on May 31.

Bombsquad was bred by Scone icon Anne Raymond and is out of a grand-daughter of Sledmere foundation mare Cryptic Verse, dam of grand sprinter Gold Brose.

This is also the family of Testa Rossa filly Pane In The Glass, a Group 3 winner of almost $700,000.

Meanwhile in Perth, Excites’ four-year-old Flag Officer can bump up his earnings past $300,000 if successful in the WATC Suzanne Newby 60th Birthday Handicap (1600m).

The Paul Jordan trained galloper posted his fifth career win as recently as two starts ago when coming from off the pace to score at Belmont over the mile.
