Vinery stallion Big Brown (USA) recorded his third individual 2yo winner with just his seventh starter at Arlington Park in the US at the weekend.

Racing over a mile on the Arlington Park turf, Brown Almighty followed in his sire’s hoof prints by winning on debut, albeit by the more modest margin of a length and three quarters.

On turf rated as Good, Brown Almighty jumped well and box seated behind leaders Wild Slew and Ruler of Love in the field of eight.

Brown Almighty fought to punch through between horses in the straight and once clear, the Tri-Star Racing colt pulled away for an impressive 1 3/4 length winin a slick time of 1.40.44.

Bred by MAP Mare Partnership #3, Brown Almighty was purchased for $50,000 as a weanling and then for $22,000 as a 2yo. He is the second foal out of stakes-placed Gone Goodbye, who earned $133,079.

Unlike Big Brown, Gone Goodbye did not run at two, but was a debut winner at three. Big Brown’s seven runners have each run once, recording 3 wins, 1 third, and earnings of $42,395.

Multiple Grade 1 winner Big Brown was an 11 ¾ length debut winner on the turf at two, and earned $3,614,500 in his career which was highlighted by a Kentucky Derby victory.
