BIG Brown son Darwin will revert to the sprint distance when he contests this weekend’s Diamond Jubilee Stakes G.1 at Royal Ascot.

The $1.3m Ready To Run 2YO has proven to be a bargain buy having already established himself a future sire of enormous significance.

Darwin is a already Group winner on turf in the UK at close to a mile and should feel at home in Group 1 company given trainer Aiden O’Brien’s high regard for the colt.

Formerly trained by Hall Of Fame Todd Pletcher, Darwin was an impressive debut winner at Belmont Park in New York before being injured when finishing fourth in the Nashua Stakes G.2 in November.

He was subsequently transferred to Coolmore’s European HQ at Ballydoyle and made an immediate impact by posting an emphatic win in the Group 3 The Minstrel Stakes on June 26 at Naas.

Should Darwin be successful in his Diamond Jubilee quest he join an esteemed honour roll that includes Australia gallopers Black Caviar and the immortal Danehill.
