BIG Brown colt Mighty Brown is on target to bag his second US stakes-win in 2014 when he contests the Hutcheson Stakes G.2 (1400m) in Florida on the weekend.
Trained by Tim Ice, the Kentucky-bred 3YO has raced 10 times so far for 2 wins, 2 seconds and one third.
His career highlight before Saturday’s outing was in the Listed Pasco Stakes (1400m) at Tampa Bay in the pan handle.
Mighty Brown is owned by Tri-Star Racing and The Farm on 4, has drawn post 3 with Alan Garcia getting his first ride on the colt.
“I’ve thought he was a very talented colt from Day 1, and I think cutting him back in distance has helped him a lot. I thought he would be a perfect seven- furlong horse and it worked out well today,” Ice observed after Mighty Brown’s win at Tampa.
Mighty Brown is aiming 12 stakes-horses sired by Big Brown, five of them stakeswinners including the Ballydoyle resident Darwin who also happened to top the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Horses In Training Sale (US$1.3m).
