CRANBOURNE galloper Red Colossus confirmed himself as the horse to beat in next month’s Group One SAJC Derby (2500m) after a winning today’s Listed SAJC Chairman’s Stakes (2014m) at Morphettville.

The son of Vinery Stud resident Testa Rossa showed his superior staying qualities in today’s feature settling off the speed before finishing over the top of his rivals to score by a long neck ahead of Token Of Honour (by Testa Rossa) and Sydney-sider Kidnapped in third.

Red Colossus in unbeaten in both of his Morphettville appearances having won the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas (1600m) with a length to spare at his previous start there on March 10.

Should he be able to add the May 2 classic, Red Colossus will be emulate his paternal half-brother Testafiable who won the SAJC Derby in 2006.
