BENICIO colt Benny’s Halo is poised to make up for his luckless second placing in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) when he lines-up in tomorrow’s $200,000 W.A Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Ascot.

The Neville Smith trained gelding was held up for a run at a crucial stage in the rich Karrakatta Plate flying home once clear to finish just a short neck behind winner, Night War.

”Benny’s Halo was a bit unlucky not to win the Karrakatta Plate and he stands right out here,” Sportsman’s Ray Hickson writes.
”He just had to wait and come around heels at a vital stage in the Group 2 race last time but hit the line very fast to just miss.
”Benny’s Halo is looking for 1400m and without going overboard looks to have them covered.
Benny’s Halo is currently rated a $2.25 chance to win the Sires’.

HOOFNOTE: Vinery is offering a More Than Ready half-sister to Night War at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Tuesday.
