First crop Benicio 2yo Larry’s Ready broke his maiden today in the most emphatic circumstances at Port Macquarire streaking to a 5.8-lens win in the 1512m event.

A Derby winning 3yo, Benicio’s first crop are coming of age with Larry’s Ready the latest juvenile winner for the son of More Than Ready.   Trained locally by respected horseman Neil Godbolt, Larry’s Ready’s ability was well known and he was sent out a prohibitave $1.65 favourite after a 0.6-lens third over the same course and distance just seven days ago.

Godbolt purchased Larry’s Ready for $37,500 at the 2009 Inglis Classic Yearling sale at Newmarket.

The Benicio gelding could prove the best of the family and is a half brother to stablemates Le Rythm who has won 8 races and 3YO Gorbosaan who has bagged three.
