CASINO Prince shapes as ‘the big mover’ on the national sires rankings in the short to mid-term with a substantial crop of 2YO’s ready to assist the stallion’s proven and progressive horses.

The Vinery Stud resident’s 2011 crop numbered 107 foals, just one less than his first crop which was so dynamic that it propelled him to Champion First Season Sire honours over now barn-mate Husson.

That same crop are now 5YO’s and include 8 individual stakes winners including Group 1 winners b and Escado as well as Group 2 winners Star Rolling and Longport.

Casino Prince’s first crop boasts a phenomenally high 73% winners to runners ratio with an overall (career) strike-rate of 60%.

Casino Prince’s second crop (2010 foals) is led by Hooked, Group 2 and Group 3 winner from his most recent preparation and Group 1 placed in the Australian Derby and Epsom Handicap.

Hooked, like Champion All Too Hard, classic winner Escado, ten furlong WFA campaigner Star Rolling, Vinery Stud Stakes placegetter Longport and others illustrate Casino Prince’s capacity to sire universally tough, sound and high class horses in the 1600-2500m range.

Casino Prince’s ability to sire such horses is in keeping with his own race record and pedigree.

The Anthony Cummings-trained galloper won the Group 1 AJC Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) and the Group 2 MVRC Alister Clark Stakes over the Cox Plate course and distance; 2040m at Moonee Valley.

Casino Prince was the hard luck story of the 2008 Doncaster Handicap and was beaten a nose in the Australian Guineas 12 months prior.

He was also placed in the Australian Cup over 2000m at Flemington yet was at the same time started favourite in the Golden Slipper.

Casino Prince is also responsible for one of the best 3YO’s seen in Australia for decades in All Too Hard.

The half-brother to 3-times Horse of the Year Black Caviar was Australia’s Champion 3YO in Australia in 2012-13 thanks in part to wins in the WFA C F Orr and Futurity and Caulield Guineas (beating Pierro).

He was also second in the Group 1 MVRC WS Cox Plate, beaten narrowly by Ocean Park.

All Too Hard returned at four to defeat Fiorente, More Joyous et al in a star studded All Aged Stakes at Randwick in what was to be his glorious swansong before retiring to Vinery Stud.

HOOFNOTE: CASINO Prince has nine yearlings on offer at the upcoming 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale which starts in Sydney on Sunday.
