HE puts the polish on Dowdstown Charlie one of Myboycharlie’s most impressive first crop winners and now David Payne has an opportunity for another city winner sired by the young, gun sire.

Payne’s royally related filly Artistic Lass is scheduled to contest the ATC Your Local Greengrocer Handicap (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Artistic Lass has been freshened since holding her own in an 1800m race at the venue taken out by the exciting Drago on May 11.

Prior to that, the bay filly came from last to finish 4th in the time-honoured ATC Fernhill Stakes L (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Artistic Lass was sold to Payne for $100,000 out of Vinery Stud’s 2012 Magic Millions Yearling Sale draft on the Gold Coast.

The filly is a half-sister to three winners led by Testa Rossa filly Sistine Angel whose wins include the Group 2 VRC Edward Manifold Stakes and Group 3 HDF McNeil Stakes.

She was also runner-up behind Black Caviar in the 2012 Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide.
