TESTA Rossa gelding Speediness is being readied for a return visit to the Hunter Valley to tackle next month’s Scone Cup after an impressive come from behind win in yesterday’s Listed Pink Ribbon Cup (1400m) at Caulfield.

The Colin Scott-trained 5YO will be aiming to go one better this time around after finishing second to subsequent dual Group 1 winner Sincero when the clashed in the Inglis Scone Guineas (1400m) there in 2011.

“I’ve just been hoping to get him back to some sort of form so we can go back up there again,” Scott said.

“He’s been working well and he looks great, and now he’s put it together where it counts.”

Scott plans to tackle the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury on the way to the Scone Cup scheduled for Friday May 17.

Speediness gave Scott his first stakes winner in Saturday’s Listed event, scoring by 1-1/2 lengths from Parthian with a further length to the favourite Club Command in third.

While Scott is now looking at further success, he almost lost Speediness a year ago when an offer to buy was received from Dubai.

“But he failed the vet and I cheered,” Scott told AAP.

“He’s part of the family, it would have been tough to see him go.”
