TRAINER John Hyam has drawn up plans that will see Big Brown filly Alborbrown tackle South Australia’s classic races in 2015.

Alborbrown posted her first win at start number five when charging past her rivals from the back to win a 2122m maiden at Gawler on November 26 by 2.3-lens.

“We have always been waiting for her to get over a bit of ground, I knew she had some ability about her,” Hyam said.
“She’s going to the paddock now but she’ll come back and start racing in late March and probably go first-up into the Laelia Stakes over 1600m and then to the Port Adelaide Guineas which is 1800m and then if everything is going to plan then she’d go to our Schweppes Oaks which is 2000m and then work it from there with her if we keep pushing onto the Derby trip or what we do with her.”

Alborbrown was a much admired lot at the 2013 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, knocked down for $100,000.

“She’s a lovely type of horse,” Haym says,”and the half-brother and dual Stakes winner Excelorada won 10 races and two Listed races over there and he didn’t really come good until he was a late two year-old and was an early four-year-old when he fired.
“Excelorada was a sprinter but being by Big Brown, we thought we’d get her out of a trip because she’s a classic type of filly.”
