FORMER studmaster, renowned solicitor and award winning wine maker Brian Agnew was popping the corks after Red Button’s gripping win in yesterday’s $132,000 Moe Cup.

Red Buttons is by Vinery foundation sire Red Ransom from the Rory’s Jester mare, Funster.
Agnew’s association with the family dates back to Widden Stakes placegetter, Scale, who threw VATC Debutante Stakes and Myer Fashion Stakes winner, Alshandegha.

Trained by Mick Kent, yesterday’s win was Red Button’s eighth win and took his earnings past the $360,000.

Red Ransom is delicately poised to reach an historic milestone 100 stakeswinners anytime now.
Once he does he will join the likes of Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector, Storm Cat, Sadler’s Wells, Sunday Silence and Sir Tristram in the world’s most elite stallions club.
