BIG Brown 3YO Ground Transport made it back-to-back stakes wins when he took out the Drosselmeyer Stakes L at Belmont Park in New York on Monday.
The Kentucky-bred galloper gave his rivals little hope of denying him an second straight major by going straight to the front and setting the tempo for the 1 1/18m feature.
Ground Transport kicked off the bend and was under no real threat of defeat, digging into his reserve when briefly challenged before going onto to the pocket the lion’s share of the $100,000 purse.
Ground Transport is one of 74 winners, 15 stakes-performers and 7 stakeswinners sired by Big Brown around the world including the USA, Canada, Japan, Europe, the UK and here in Australia where he is credited with the promising recent dual stakes-performing 2yo Wroclaw.
With his Australian tally opened up last month via Lady Concord, Big Brown could easily add another as soon as this weekend with the David Payne trained Bomber Brown nominated for the 1800m ATC Juvenile Stayers Plate at Rosehill Gardens.
