TESTA Rossa colt The Bowler knocked over his rivals with a Mitchell Johnson like show of sheer pace to knock over his rivals in Wednesday’s MRC Schweppes Handicap (1200m) at Sandown-Lakeside.
The Tony Vasil trained 3YO streaked away to win the penultimate race by 2.25-lens ahead of odds-on favourite Turquoise King in a time of 1:11.75s.
That was by far the fastest time of the four 1200m races stage on the day where none of the three other winners were able to go under 1:12.
The Bowler has raced 13 times for 3 wins and 3 seconds notably his 0.3-lens second in the 2013 Group 3 MRC Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m).
Meanwhile, Saturday’s prestigious Group 2 STC Silver Slipper (1200m) marks the return to racing of super Testa Rossa colt Unencumbered who hasn’t raced since winning the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January.
The Testa Rossa/Blizzardly (by More Than Ready) youngster have won 5 of his 6 starts to date with earnings of $1.78m.
