RED Ransom filly Rumya has emerged a Horse of the Year candidate in South Africa after taking out the Group 1 Cape Fillies Guineas (1600m) at Kenilworth on the weekend.
It was the fillies four career win from as many starts and her second at Group 1 level having won the prestigious Greyville Golden Slipper at 2.
Rumya was bred by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum who also provided reigning Horse of the Year in the RSA – Igugu.
Rumya is is one of more than 100 Red Ransom stakeswinenrs and last year joined Vinery Stud stallion Onemorenomore as the only G1 winning 2YO’s by the great son of Roberto.
On top of that, Rumya is a direct descendant of Australia’s Horse of the Year Emancipation who won six Group 1’s herself and is the matriarch of luminaries such as Virage de Fortune, Railings, Magneto, AJC Derby runner-up Royal Pardon and now Rumya.
