NEWCASTLE gelding Testarhythm makes it 43 Stakes winners for Vinery sire Testa Rossa when he took out the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) at Gosford on Thursday.

It was a much deserved win for the Darren Smith trained 5YO who is racing in career best form adding today’s central coast sprint feature to his Canterbury Bm85 win late last month.

Bought for $110,000 at the 2009 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Testarhythm has earned almost three times that amount in his 15 starts.

Testarhythm’s heroics come in the midst of the annual Magic Millions Yearling Sale the venue where Testa Rossa scored his brilliant win in the Classic back in 1999.
The gelding’s win is a portentous start to 2013 after the stallion’s excpetional last 12 month period which saw his crack daughter Ortensia rise to become one of the best sprinting mares in the world with Group 1 wins in Dubai and the UK.

Apart from his 43 Stakes winner’s, Testa Rossa has sired a further 43 Stakes horses amongst his 471 individual winners from a total of 660 starters.  This translates into an incredible 71.4 percent winners-to-runners.
