KIWI mare Amaryllis is likely to cross the Tasman to take on the best mares in Australia after winning today’s Group Three AuRC Darley Plate at Ellerslie on their Derby day programme.

The daughter of Red Ransom will fly over to contest the $600,000 Group One ATC Coolmore Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 19 against what is certain to be a high quality field of fillies and mares.
In winning this afternoon’s Ellerslie co-feature, Amaryllis becomes her sires’ 101st individual stakeswinner around the globe.

Amaryllis had won seven times before her latest victory which will send her value as a broodmare sky-rocketing given her exemplary bloodlines.
The five-year-old is a daughter of the Zabeel mare, Lafluer, whose own wins include a trio of Group Two wins and a fourth placing in the New Zealand Oaks.

Amaryllis’ third dam is none of than the immortal sprinting mare Habibiti who won the Newmarket July Cup, Royal Ascot King’s Stand Stakes and the coveted Longchamp Prix de l’Abbaye in France.

This is the same family that delivered the breeding world with its rare gem, Eight Carat.

Red Ransom was responsible for the highest price lot at the 2011 Karaka Yearling Sale and has had great success as a Sire of Sire’s since his son’s retired to Stud.  Red Ransom’s reigning Horse Of The Year, Typhoon Tracy returns to her birthplace of Vinery later this month where Red Ransom best son Onemorenomore has taken up Stallion duties.
