Hong Kong debutant Nothingilikemore has continued the winning run of Vinery sires with graduates of the Inglis Classic yearling sale.

Nothingilikemore is a 3yo son of Husson with above-average ability for trainer John Size. He was touted the one to beat before the Tai Ping Shan Hcp (1200m) at Sha Tin on Sunday and responded with a whirlwind finish to win running away by two lengths under champion jockey Ryan Moore.

“He had to be ready to win the way he was forced to run on from the back,” Size said. “The hot pace helped but he did the job. His trials had been pretty good and he took that to the races which not all young horses do.”

Nothingilikemore was a $40,000 buy for agent John Foote at the 2015 Classic Sale. His dam Katisam (Lonhro) won a couple of restricted sprints in Albury and she has a 2yo colt and yearling colt by Vinery resident Pluck (USA).

Husson had already struck in Australia with Cha Chang in a Kilmore maiden on Thursday. The Ciaran Maher trained 3yo was another $40,000 buy at the 2015 Classic and impressed winning jockey Mark Zahra with a front-running victory second-up after a six-month spell.

“He’s a better chaser than a leader,” Zahra said. “They chopped and changed and there was a bit of pressure up the hill. But he won well and there was more in the tank.”

Pluck started the Classic Sale chase with Cogliere at Randwick last weekend. He cost $22,000 at the 2015 Classic and his grand-final this prep will be the $400,000 Country Championships (1400m) at Randwick on April 1.

Mossman also weighed in with runaway winner Mossman Gorge in Canberra on Friday. A $90,000 buy at the 2016 Classic, he is being set for $250,000 Inglis 2YO Classic (1200m) at Randwick on February 11.

Vinery has 19 yearlings entered for the Classic Sale and there’s a combined total of 38 lots by All Too Hard, Casino Prince, Husson, More Than Ready, Mossman, Myboycharlie, Pluck & Testa Rossa from February 11 to 13.
