MOREIRA ON EURO CHARLINE IN DUBAI

Euro Charline (GB) is due to clear quarantine today in readiness for the G1 Dubai Turf (1800m) at Meydan on Saturday evening.

The daughter of Vinery shuttler Myboycharlie won the G1 Beverley D Stakes against older mares in Chicago last year and she will take on the boys in what looks to be a hot contest on turf this weekend.

Euro Charline is trained by Marco Botti for Team Valor and his wife Lucie reported the filly has settled in nicely since arriving from England on Sunday. “She travelled over well. She went out for a canter on Monday and I’m pleased with her.”

Team Valor owner Barry Irwin has booked Joao Moreira for the Dubai Turf.   Irwin won the G1 Dubai World Cup two years ago with his Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom.

Bookmakers have priced Euro Charline at $9 in a wide-open event behind $4 equal favourites The Grey Gatsby and Solow.

Myboycharlie’s Australian Group 1 winner Peggy Jean will also be searching for her next black-type victory this weekend in either Sydney or Melbourne.

Trainer Gerald Ryan has nominated her for the Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night and the Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday. He will look at the fields for both races with Triple Crown Racing managers Chris and Michael Ward before making a decision.

Ryan favours keeping her at home in Sydney after she was the victim of severe interference in the G2 Kewney Stakes at Flemington a fortnight ago. “I would rather forget that run – she copped a battering into the straight and should have just about won!”

Jameka is another Myboycharlie on track for further feature success. She has been entered for the $100,000 Mornington Sires’ Stakes (1500m) this Saturday.

The Ciaran Maher trained filly won the G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes last time out and she also holds a Group 1 nomination for next month’s G1 Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick – the race Peggy Jean won last year.
