Onemorenomore maintained his recent winning strike-rate with smart youngster Genius in Singapore on Friday evening.

The (Aus) bred gelding was having his second start for leading trainer Leslie Khoo in the Inglis Melbourne Juvenile Stakes (1200m) at Kranji.  After being shuffled back in the early stages, he responded to Barend Vorster’s pumping style to put the issue beyond doubt.

“I figured Barend would be the right jockey – he’s a horse who needs strong handling,” Khoo said. “I’ve always thought he had ability. He was still very green first-up but ran on well for fourth to Morales.

“I was quite confident he could win tonight and his main objective is the (G2) Aushorse Golden Horseshoe on May 15.”

Genius (2g Onemorenomore – Gooniwiggal by Rock Of Gibraltar) cost $34,000 at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in October. He was bred by Bob Lapointe at Muskoka Farm and is a half-brother to Ipswich winner Girls World.

“He’s still very green and we got further back than we wanted but he was travelling well,” Vorster said. “Once he found the gap, he just quickened up so well. He’s a very nice horse.”

The off-shore result brought up a double for Onemorenomore on Friday after his local filly One More Tequila won at Scone. She is trained by Peter Eggleston and scored by a half-length in the Toyota 3YO Plate (1300m).

Onemorenomore (Red Ransom) stands at Vinery and is a Top 5 stallion for winners (22) and wins (31) on the Australian second-season premiership. The winning run can continue when his filly Baylie Louise attempts a hat-trick in the MTC Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Wagga on Tuesday.
