DOTHRAKI DELIVERS FOR MOSSMAN

Dothraki will be given a chance to boost his black-type record after landing the G3 Tattersall’s 150th Anniversary Stakes (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The Peter Snowden trained gelding accelerated to a winning margin in the straight and then denied the late challenge of Target In Sight to score by a short-neck.  “He travels well although he does has a tendency to switch off,” Snowden said.  “But he picked up when the second horse came along and was very strong through the line.”

Dothraki is a son of Vinery sire Mossman and will be set for the LR Ramornie Handicap (1200m) in Grafton on July 8.  “He looks a perfect Ramornie horse,” Snowden said.  “Hopefully, the handicapper doesn’t get at him too much.”

Snowden won the 2010 Ramornie with Pinwheel and they completed the Tattersall’s Anniversary Stakes double the following year when it was known as the W J Healy Stakes.

Dothraki (4g Mossman – Volantis by Flying Spur) won the LR VRC Hilton Hotels Stakes and G3 Gold Coast Guineas under the care of previous trainer Gerald Ryan before transferring to Snowden earlier this season.

He is raced by Triple Crown Syndications and has earned $588,060 after making $45,000 from Baramul Stud at the 2012 Magic Millions National Sale.  His dam is a winning half-sister to Simonstad (G3 VRC Rupert Steele Stakes).

Triple Crown managers Chris and Michael Ward have enjoyed a successful association with Vinery sire Myboycharlie through G1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Peggy Jean and G2 Danehill Stakes winner Charlie Boy.

Mossman has sired the winners of 129 races in Australia this season and the next one will take him through $4 millions in progeny earnings this season.  Vinery will stand him for a $27,500 (inc GST) fee this year.
