KISS TO REMEMBER

Big Brown filly Kiss to Remember rallied from just off the pace to win the LR Pago Hop Stakes (1600m) going away at Fair Grounds on Saturday.

The consistent chestnut had won the LR Battle of New Orleans Stakes earlier this year but was coming off five consecutive seconds prior to a one-length victory for trainer Tom Amoss.  It was her fourth win in 12 starts and she has earned $323,200 for owner Maggi Moss.

“Kiss to Remember has been very good to us,” Amoss said.  “Maggi and I spotted her as a yearling and she only cost $15,000 at Keeneland.

“A mile is probably her limit and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her return to sprinting.  She’s by Big Brown and he seems to sire a lot of good grass runners.”

Kiss to Remember (3f Big Brown – Taft Lil Queen by Irish Open) was bred by the Big Brown Syndicate in partnership with Maryland breeder Charles McGinnes.  Her dam Taft Lil Queen was a stakes winner in Texas and she is from the immediate family of Group 1 winners Spun Sugar (Oaklawn Apple Blossom Hcp) and Daaher (Aqueduct Cigar Mile).

Big Brown shuttles to Vinery Stud and he is a Top 5 third-season sire in North America this year with 74 individual winners and earnings of $4.19 million.  His first Group 1 winner arrived last Saturday week when unbeaten 2yo colt Dortmund claimed the G.1 Los Alamitos Futurity (1700m).
