Speed-machine Star Turn raced in Group 1 company as recently as March and he’s already maturing into a magnificent specimen at Vinery Stud.

His breathtaking good looks will captivate broodmare owners attending Vinery’s Parade days on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th at 9am, details below.

Star Turn will make his debut alongside the stud’s other up-and-coming young sires All Too Hard, Press Statement, Headwater and Pluck.

The powerhouse sprinter in a vintage crop of colts, Star Turn never dodged a soul during a 12-start career for owner Alan Bell and Team Hawkes.  He jumped the gun with an early-season breakthrough in the Pierro 2YO Plate (1000m) at Randwick and then trained on at three for awesome displays of sustained speed in the San Domenico Stakes-Gr.3 (1100m) at Rosehill and Schillaci Stakes-Gr.2 (1100m) at Caulfield.

The Vinery newcomer defeated Golden Slipper winner Capitalist in the San Domenico before accounting for a class field of seasoned Gr.1 sprinters  such as Malaguerra, Fell Swoop, Dothraki etc in the Schillaci S WFA.

Team Hawkes only pitted Star Turn against his own age-group one more time and that was in the Coolmore Stakes-Gr.1 at Flemington.  He was a sitting shot in the lead down and was only collared in the closing stages finishing third, the first of four consecutive Gr.1 placings in Australia’s premier open Sprints, the Lightning S, William Reid S and Newmarket S.

Trainer John Hawkes, never one to waste words, put the Coolmore result into context after the straight-six contest.  “Give us the winner’s run and we win.  Simple as that.”

Given his record against older sprinters earlier this season, Star Turn would have been one of the favourites for the $10 million Everest (1200m) at Randwick in October but for retiring to cover his first mares at Vinery.

Breeders will be the real winners this spring when booking into Star Turn for a $22,000 (inc gst) service fee.

Star Turn, More Than Ready, Testa Rossa and others will all be available for inspection by appointment and at the Vinery Stallion Parades on:

8.30 Breakfast, Stallion Parade at 9am followed by first foals of Headwater and Press Statement and Open Barn.
