Lover Of Life (3f Myboycharlie – Fiery Sunset by Cape Canaveral) won the Keith Ross & Guests Hcp (1000m) with a late charge at Kembla on Saturday. It was just her third appearance and it brought up a running double following a Nowra win last month.
David Pfieffer trains the filly at Warwick Farm for owners Glenn Butterworth, Alan Stephenson, Jason Watkins and Paul Webster. She was bred by S F Bloodstock and was a $35,000 buy at the 2012 Inglis Classic yearling sale.
The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Balfour doubled up for his sire in the Prix Sabina (1400m) at Mont de Marsan on Sunday.
Rouget also prepares Myboycharlie’s French stakes winner Salai. He is being set for the G1 Prix Jean -Luc Lagardere (1400m) at Longchamp on October 6.
Balfour (2g Myboycharlie – Phone the Diva by Phone Trick) was bred by S F Bloodstock and sold for 65,000 euros at the 2012 Arqana October yearling sale. His dam was a Listed winner of the Shakopee Stakes in the USA.
Myboycharlie has another live chance for more black-type when Dowdstown Charlie starts in the G3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle on Wednesday. The David Payne trained gelding was an encouraging third on the LR Rosebud last month but has finished midfield at his last two outings in the G3 Up And Coming Stakes at G3 Ming Dynasty Stakes.
Myboycharlie (Danetime) was a 2YO Group 1 winner of the 2007 Prix Morny at Deauville and is standing at Vinery for a $16,500 (inc gst) service fee.
