BUFFERING TO BREAK GROUP ONE HOODOO

PUNTERS around Australia believe Mossman son Buffering will finally crack it for a well-earned Group 1 win on Saturday when he tackles the B.T.C Sprint (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

The Robert Heathcote trained gelding has been posted as the $2.60 favourite to take out the $400,000 feature.

No stranger to Group One races, Buffering has finished second on four occasions at the highest level and placed third another three times.

Buffering’s rider Damian Browne told Sportsman he was rapt with Buffering’s trackwork on Tuesday and feels tackling the Cup second-up gives him his best chance of a Group 1 win.

“His first-up and second-up records are his best and not going down to Sydney has ended up a blessing,” Browne said.

“It’s that time now where somebody else has to step up and I can’t think of a horse that deserves to be up there as much as him.

“He can handle most going and he proved at Caulfield in the spring that he can take a sit so he is not one dimensional.”

Buffering has won four of his seven starts at Eagle Farm and arguably his best performance came at the course last year when he sat wide with 58kg and finished second in the Stradbroke
