TESTA TOPS OPENER

A COLT by Testa Rossa topped the first session of the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Monday evening at Morphettville racecourse.

The colt was bought by prominent local trainer David Jolly’s for $100,000.

Lot 14 from the Baramul Stud draft, is the second foal Rose Of Pania – a full sister to dual Group 1 winner and Cox Plate runner-up Lotteria.

The youngster is also a close genetic relative to Testa Rossa’s Kilmore Cup stakeswinner, Over Quota.

Testa Rossa is the sire of 46 stakeswinners including last Saturday’s Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) winner Twilight Royale who is in line for a $2.4m bonus if she wins the 2014 Scone Inglis Guineas.

Adelaide Cup day was a red-letter day for Vinery stallions, not only did a Testa Rossa top day one of the sale, freshman stallion Myboycharlie won the Magic Millions via unbeaten Victorian youngster Charles In Charge.

Later on, sturdy Mossman gelding Waratone ran the race of his life finishing second in the Group 2 $400,000 SAJC Adelaide Cup (3200m).
