TESTA ROSSA DOUBLE

NEWCASTLE gelding Whisperossa signalled that he is in for his most lucrative campaign yet with an outstanding first-up win at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

The son of Testa Rossa was having his first start since April 1 and arrived at headquarters off the back off two excellent trial efforts at Wyong at his home base at Broadmeadow.

While the Darren Smith trained five-year-old has been a model of consistency throughout, yesterday’s win was his the first time he had won off a break.

“It was also his first win at 1100m,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan pointed out,”He has won two from three second-up and he gets a mile so I would imagine that there are a few options for (trainer) Darren Smith to explore now that he’s come back so well.”

Whisperossa’s latest triumph boosts his overall earnings to over $128,000.

Meanwhile across in Adelaide, above average mare Rose Of Lincoln (Testa Rossa – Magical Forest) continued to build her reputation as one of SA’s most progressive mares with a third win from just five starts.

She was 14th early before unleashing her trademark sprint to sweep past her rivals and win by a comfortable three-quarter-length margin.
