‘CHARLIE DEBUTS IN STAKES COMPANY

FORMER champion 2YO colt Myboycharlie will be represented by his first runners when the David Payne trained Artistic Lass makes her debut in the Sydney Markets Sprint (1100m) at Rosehill tomorrow while Kiwi bred Charlestown makes his debut in New Zealand.

Payne purchased Artistic Lass for $100,000 from Vinery Stud’s 2012 Magic Million Yearling Sale draft on the Gold Coast in 2012.

She was one of ten Myboycharlie’s offered at the sale, all of whom changed hands, at an average of $121,000 or in the vicinity of eight and a half times the stallion’s introductory service fee.

Artistic Lass’ dam, Famous Painter, is a daughter of the Arc de Triomphe winner Peintre Celebre and has already has produced Sistine Angel (by Testa Rossa) whose wins include the Group 2 VRC Edward Manifold Stakes and Group 3 H.D.F McNeil Stakes.

She was also second behind Black Caviar in the Group 1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide.

Famous Painter is also the dam of Excites gelding, Sistine Demon, a $150,000 Perth Magic Millions pick-up who ran third on debut at Caulfield on One Thousand Guineas.

As for Artistic Lass, she indicated her readiness with a couple of handy efforts in barrier trials at Rosehill and Warwick Farm last month.

Meanwhile, trainer Lisa Latta has a decision to make whether Myboycharlie/Princess Carolina runs in the Listed Wellesley Stakes (1000m) on a heavy 10 at Trentham or is saved for the NZB Ready To Run Sale Stakes (800m) at Riccarton on Sunday.

Charlestown is out of a More Than Ready full-sister to the stakesplaced Readyforcatherine.

He was purchased for $65,000 at the NZB Select Session and is thus eligible to compete in the Karaka Million in January 2013.
