QUARTER OF A MILLION

ONLY seven days after Testa Rossa two-year-old debutant Twilight Royale took out the $250,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) one of his ‘older’ brigade burst back into the winner’s stall at a rare Canterbury Saturday meeting.

Newcastle galloper Testarhythm took his official earnings to a shandy short of a quarter of a million dollars with a gritty and determined win in the ATC Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1250m).

The Darren Smith trained five-year-old was well backed from $11 into $8.50 despite coming off a lacklustre effort at Rosehill only two weeks before.

Prior to that unaccustomed failure, Testarhythm had managed to run third behind Port Macquarie mare Pentasia at the same venue in what has proven to be a hot form race.

Testarhythm has won four times (with four placings) from his 14 starts with total earnings (excl. BOBS) of $249,900.

Testarhythm was bought by Smith for $110,000 at the 2009 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney.
