BROWN IN BLACK TYPE

BIG Brown’s incredible start to his stud career has been capped off with a new 2yo stakes performer arriving in the USA over the weekend.

Brown Laddie finished third in the Listed Sugar Bowl Stakes (6f) at Fair Grounds in Louisiana at only his second start having won on debut.

The colt is trained by Neil Howard who put the polish of the great Summer Squall who won the Preakness Stakes in 1990.

Howard also trained 2003 USA Horse of the Year Mineshaft who happens to be by A. P Indy, the sire of Vinery’s boom sire Congrats.

With only a few days to go before the Northern Hemisphere racing and breeding season come to an end, Big Brown’s epic 2012 has earned him high praise and set him up as one of the most exciting young stallions on the global roster.

The Kentucky Derby/Preakness Stakes superhorse sired 18 winners in the USA, Canada, Europe and two in Japan led by stakes winner Brown Almighty (Won Sunny’s Halo Stakes) as well as the aforementioned Brown Laddie.

“Big Brown couldn’t have made a better start to his career,” says Vinery’s Adam White.

“Eighteen winners in five countries is a fantastic achievement from a stallion who most people expect to be hitting his straps when his progeny turn three.

“I think what he’s done this year with his two-year-olds is an ominous sign of what will happen in 2013 and it also gives Australian buyers a genuine sense of confidence that they are in fact by a proven 2YO sire whose progeny are going to get better at three, four and beyond,” he concluded.

Big brown has 25 yearling catalogued at the 2013 Magic Millions Yearling Sale including foals from the likes of C’Yaontheotherside, Joie, Miss Mooney Mooney, On Type, Ouija Board, Shovoff, Sontweni and Zuzela.
